I’m excited to pull back the curtain and introduce something we’ve been developing for you: Puro Scan Mate™ Beta 1.0, our brand-new food scanner tool. It’s built to help you shop smarter, eat with understanding, and stay aligned with our PuroMartinez mission of culturally rooted wellness. And, Puro Scan Mate™ will always be FREE.
Why we created it
At PuroMartinez®, our goal is to blend ancestral Latino-inspired wellness, good education, and modern tools that serve real lives. We understand that you care about what you put in your body and may need some help, as I did, to make better choices.
So many powerful systemas like Big Food Corporations try to hurt us to make their money. They put so much sugar and preservatives in stuff. It’s hard to fight against the food addiction they create.
Most of the consumer packaged goods (CPG) we buy do poorly affect our gut, immune system, and overall energy. So we asked: How can we give you a tool that steps into the grocery aisle, alongside the spice-filled kitchen, and supports better choices? That question brought us to create Puro Scan Mate™. And, did we mention it’s FREE?
What it does
Here’s a breakdown of the features in Beta 1.0:
- You scan the barcode of a food product; our web-browser-based app gives you instant insights into what you’re putting in your body.
- The tool uses data from the open-source database OpenFoodFacts to analyze nutritional value, ingredients, and processing level.
- Results are shown with a simple, color-coded score (green = healthy, yellow = moderate, red = less healthy) so you can instantly see how aligned a product is with a wellness-focused lifestyle.
- Designed for clarity: less jargon, more actionable awareness.
What “Beta 1.0” means
Because we’re in beta mode, here’s what to keep in mind:
- The tool is live and usable, but it’s not yet perfect. Some products may not have complete data yet.
- Scores and insights rely on available OpenFoodFacts entries and may evolve.
- Your feedback is essential — it will guide version 1.1 and beyond.

What’s next
- For version 1.1: we will expand the ingredient-database, include more Latino-centric foods and spices (because we know they matter), refine the UI, and add more features driven by your input.
